Was Up In Branson

Spring of 2015

Spring has sprung in Branson and the Red Bud, Service Berry and Bradford Pear are all done blooming and the Dogwood is in full bloom now. There  has been quite a bit of spring rain and all the leaves are lush and most in full growth. We have had to cut the lawn at our house on Table Rock Lake twice already and it needs it again soon.
The Branson shows are all up and running on schedule with some of the shows we have long remembered closed as life causes all of us to age and face different  circumstances. Andy Williams died and Roy Rogers jr. closed their show even though he and his family including his son Dusty Rogers still live in the area. Yakof is not doing his show at this time and has others working out of his theater. Hammner Barber have closed their show this season. The ACA insurance thing is hurting all small business and causing a lot of vacant store fronts nation wide and it will take some time until the Legislature can get it all settled so small business can afford to operate again. There is good news on the strip with Jim Stafford is back for his 25th year after taking last year off for personal reasons. Shepard of the hills are opened again after they said the ACA thing was causing their closure. They received a shot in the arm from someone and it allowed them to give it another chance with their Live Show.

If you are visiting Branson this year be sure to see the Mickey Gilley show because he says this will be his last season hear.

Silver Dollar City is just finishing it’s World Fest Theme and it was just jam packed with tremendous acts from all over the world. They recently dedicated there newest attraction called Fireman’s Landing. It is a new section that they spent 8 million dollars creating with the fireman theme including several new rides and lots of fun things for the young and young at heart. They has open house offering free admittance for all active firefighters and there was a reported 250 that paraded around the park during the grand opening. The new wood roller coaster is drawing old and young to be taken to record heights for a roller coaster and then turned on their head and drop at extreme speed before becoming inverted several times.

There are also several new shows in town and we will mention several here.
