This week we welcome the cast of The Million Dollar Quartet!
“Million Dollar Quartet” is the celebration of a brief moment in history when the music world stood still just long enough for legendary artists,Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins to enjoy a jam session at Memphis’ iconic Sun Studios.
This largely impromptu recording session saw Elvis, Johnny, Jerry Lee, and Carl singing rock ‘n roll hits of the time – 1956 – gospel hymns, rhythm & blues, spirituals, rockabilly songs, and those twangy tunes in an era when it was still known as country western music. Fortunately, tape was rolling and this ‘Mount Rushmore of Rock’ session was captured to the continuing delight of music fans everywhere.
Blue Suede Shoes, Folsom Prison Blues, Long Tall Sally, Peace in the Valley, Great Balls of Fire, Hound Dog, Real Wild Child, and Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going’ On are just some of the infectiously catchy songs you’ll be treated to in “Million Dollar Quartet.”
